Seven-hundred thousand miles per year of solar-charged driving just pulled into the parking lot of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland, Wash. in the form of a giant solar-powered EV charging station. According to the company that installed the system, it is currently the largest of its kind in Washington State.

Completed by Hire Electric's Solar Division, Eastern Washington State's newest solar EV charging station boasts 528 solar panels, 126,000 watts of solar generating capacity and 12 Coulomb ChargePoint EV charging stations.

According to Hire Electric, the new installation is the largest net-metered solar array in Washington State.

Funded by an ARRA grant through the U.S. Department of Energy, the intstallation is projected to produce 175,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year.
