Atlanta has a new solar-powered EV charging station.

MAGE SOLAR, part of the globally operating MAGE GROUP, has announced that its high-performance modules are powering a solar canopy adjacent to one of Atlanta’s most prominent landmarks, the Millennium Gate.

MAGE says the 3.42 kW station is Atlanta’s first public solar powered electric vehicle charging canopy. The canopy has three public EV charging outlets.

The stations are available around the clock to provide power to zero-emission electric vehicles such as the Chevrolet Volt or the Nissan Leaf while providing shade and shelter at the same time.

Mayor inaugurates station
Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed inaugurated the canopy, plugging in the first EV to be charged up at the station while dozens of Atlanta’s elected officials and business leaders looked on.

"This solar electric vehicle charging station at Atlantic Station is an important milestone towards my goal of making Atlanta a cleaner and greener city," said Reed. "Zero emission vehicles play a vital role in ensuring that we are building and investing in a sustainable city for future generations."

MAGE officials echoed Reed’s comments.

“We are extremely proud be part of this prestigious solar project in one of the most innovative and exciting neighborhoods in all of Atlanta,” said Joe Thomas, President and CEO of MAGE SOLAR USA.

The MAGE POWERTEC PLUS canopy was designed by MAGE SOLAR and installed by ACE Electrical of Marietta. MAGE says the station is expected to produce 4,860 kWh of solar electricity per year while offsetting approximately 9,480 pounds of CO2 emissions annually.
