Don't be fooled by local, short-term weather events such as the brutal, snowy winter the U.S. East Coast experienced this past year. Contrary to what some of the global warming contrarians are claiming, it is very definitely getting hotter in here.

NOAA's National Climatic Data Center recently reported the combined global land and ocean surface temperatures in the first seven months of 2010 were the warmest Jan.-July on record. Records date back to 1880.

Following a record warm March, April, May and June around the globe, July came in as second warmest, globally, behind only July 1998. Additionally, Jan. 2000 to Dec. 2009 was the warmest decade on record. The last month with global temperatures below the 20th century average, according to NOAA, was over 25 years ago, in Feb. of 1985.
