So, we’ve been ranting for awhile about Nissan not treating people right who reserved a LEAF from a non-rollout state way back in April 2010.

It’s certainly looking like none of us who reserved a LEAF back in April 2010 when Nissan clearly implied that all 20,000 who plunked $99 for a LEAF would see our LEAFs no later than the end of 2011, will in fact not be seeing our LEAF in 2011 after all.

Now, comes an eensy-weensy, indirect hint from Nissan – there is no direct communication from Nissan on this -- that at least those of us who reserved a LEAF from Colorado will probably not being seeing our LEAF in 2011.

What’s the hint, you ask?

The second round of the Nissan Drive Electric Tour. It’s scheduled to arrive in Denver in late September 2011.

Now, I could be wrong, but it seems to me that Nissan wouldn’t be teasing prospective Tier 3 Colorado LEAF buyers with a short test drive right at the same time it plans to actually put LEAFs into the hands of consumers in Colorado.

In other words, it seems unlikely we Colorado April 2010 LEAF leapers will see any LEAFs until at least Oct. 2011 – or later (my money’s on later, quite a bit later).

Of course, there are other stops on the second iteration of the Nissan Drive Electric Tour, in which LEAFs are already available for purchase. Among them: Austin, Phoenix, Dallas and Seattle, along with a bunch of California cities.

Nissan LEAF Tier 1 & Tier 2 states:
Tier 1 States: Arizona, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Washington.

Tier 2 States: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington, D.C.

There are also some Tier 2 markets included on the tour where it’s possible that LEAFs might be available for purchase by the time the tour arrives. Among these: Atlanta, Orlando and Washington, D.C. – we think that lately Nissan has been fairly clear that Tier 2 reservations holders will see their LEAF by the end of 2011.

There’s Tier 1 and 2 cities -- and then there’s the rest of the markets on the tour: Denver, Las Vegas, New York, New Jersey, Boston, Hartford, Chicago, and Indianapolis.

Denver (late September) and Las Vegas (early November) will see the tour arrive quite a bit later than some other Tier 3 markets, for instance, New York (July 8-10), and New Jersey (July 15-17).

Maybe this means folks who reserved a LEAF from New York, New Jersey, Hartford, Boston, etc. might see their LEAF in 2011, or, at least, might see one a little bit earlier than those of us in Denver and Las Vegas.

Then again, who knows.

Actually, Nissan might. But if it does, it certainly isn’t telling anyone.
